I run a number of regular classes in the Edinburgh area. These are mainly focused on traditional Taiji Quan, but will frequently include material from the other aspects of Transforming Energies Inner Training. If you are considering attending a class please phone me first on 07752 721654.
Monday: from 8-10pm in the Reid Memorial Hall, West Savile Terrace, Edinburgh. This class is focused on the self-defence aspects of Taiji Quan. It is only open to people regularly attending at least one other Taiji class (note that it doesn't have to be one of my classes - anyone with an interest in the practical application of Taiji is welcome).
Tuesday: from 2-3:30pm in Morningside United Church, Chamberlain Road, Edinburgh. This class mainly works on the health and relaxation aspects of Taiji through the traditional movement forms, with some additional breathing and meditation exercises. Some partner work is also included, in particular to develop relaxation and sensitivity.
Tuesday: from 7-9pm in Morningside United Church, Chamberlain Road, Edinburgh. This class covers the all five aspects of the traditional syllabus of Wu-Cheng Taiji Quan, and provides an excellent opportunity to engage with the art and develop a practice. Students with a particular interest in self-defence are encouraged to also attend the Monday class.
Serious students, whether they are interested in the martial aspects or not, have an opportunity to progress to learn the traditional Neigung (Internal Work) from Wu-Cheng Taiji Quan. These are a very powerful set of exercises for enhancing health and stamina as well as developing martial power. These exercises are not taught in open classes, but instead are trained in a one-to-one setting.
