True scholarship consists in knowing not what things exist, but what they mean; it is not memory but judgment.

Adobe LinkThe following pages contain links to my papers. Most of these are presented in PDF format (look for the PDF Download icon) and to read them you will need the Adobe reader, which is available for free from the Adobe web site.  Whilst you can read them in your browser, they are really intended to be printed.

To facilitate your browsing experience, I have divided the work into the following groups.

  1. General Papers - this section contains general and non-mathematical material.
  2. Physical Practice - this section contains discussion of the practice, especially the physical aspects.
  3. Algebraic Analysis - here we explore how Boolean algebra can be applied to the Yijing.
  4. Conference Presentations - this gathers together material presented at conferences.
  5. Web Notes - this section links to web page presentations of current research material.
  6. Examples - this section contains examples of using the algebraic structures in interpretation.
  7. Reviews - this section contains reviews of some of the material that I have found of interest.

In addition, there is an alphabetical index of the journal published material in PDF format.

Two of my papers are described in the excellent I Ching: An Annotated Bibliography, by Hacker, Moore and Patsco. Published by Routledge, 2002. ISBN: 0-415-93969-0.

This book is an invaluable reference work for any serious student of the Yi. It contains a vast collection of references to English language writing on the Yijing, including books, journal articles and "devices and equipment". Each entry has a detailed description of its content.
